ELSA UCP is preparing an exciting academic experience about the legal challenges brought by the law of the sea. In fact, the geostrategical position of Portugal allows a deep discussion about the environmental potentialities of the sea. As a background, the students will also have a rigorous overview of the International and European legal approaches. Making use of the Socratic Method of teaching, we will engage in a high quality intellectual class production.

The” Portuguese Discoveries” was a remarkable historical period of intensive maritime exploration. In this Summer School, the students will be given the opportunity to rediscover the sea from a legal perspective and also through an innovative economic analysis. Therefore, we ask you to be prepared for an open-minded travel, with your academic luggage and your capacity of being challenged.
